Websol Energy Systems has secured approval from the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a 4 GW solar cell and module manufacturing expansion facility. 

The project supports India’s renewable energy targets and the government’s emphasis on domestic manufacturing under supply-chain localisation initiatives. 

It will strengthen backward integration and improve cost competitiveness amid rising solar installations. 

The facility is expected to serve utility-scale, rooftop, and export markets. 

In addition to boosting capacity, the project is likely to attract component suppliers and skilled manpower to the region.
