WABAG secures Rs 380 crores World Bank-Funded Order from BWSSB

Distillery  -  Jul 26,2025  -

VA Tech Wabag Ltd (WABAG), a leading water technology company, has clinched a prestigious Design-Build-Operate (DBO) contract worth approximately Rs 380 crore from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

This significant order, funded by the World Bank under the Karnataka Water Security and Disaster Resilience Program, underscores WABAG's leadership in the water recycling and reuse sector.

Under the contract, WABAG will execute the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of advanced, energy-efficient Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) with Tertiary Treatment facilities at four sites in Bommanahalli, Bengaluru.

The project scope also includes biogas generation systems from sludge, solar sludge drying beds, intermediate pumping stations, and associated piping works.

The EPC phase is scheduled for completion within 30 months, followed by 10 years of Operation and Maintenance (O&M).

These advanced WWTPs are crucial for Bengaluru's long-term water sustainability, enabling industrial reuse of treated wastewater and reducing dependence on freshwater.

The project's green initiatives, including biogas-powered operations, align with India's broader environmental goals by enhancing energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
