UP government approves Rs 940 crore Chitrakoot Link Expressway

Infrastructure  -  Jul 24,2025  -

In a significant move to bolster connectivity and invigorate pilgrimage tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has approved the construction of the Chitrakoot Link Expressway.

This 15-kilometer, four-lane carriageway, estimated to cost Rs 940 crore, will significantly enhance accessibility to the sacred town of Chitrakoot and surrounding areas.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, where the proposal for the new expressway received a crucial nod.

The project is a strategic initiative aimed at integrating Chitrakoot, a revered spiritual and cultural destination, into Uttar Pradesh's expansive expressway network.

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will be the executing agency for this project, initiating the land acquisition process soon.

This move further solidifies Uttar Pradesh's reputation as "Expressway Pradesh," with the government consistently investing in robust infrastructure to drive economic growth and regional development.

The expressway will not only enhance travel convenience but also unlock the full potential of Chitrakoot as a key spiritual and tourist destination.
