Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) (TTDI) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to invest Rs 562 crore in expanding its manufacturing capacity in the state.

The announcement was made during a signing ceremony held in Tokyo, attended by Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI.

"This MoU will bolster Toshiba's manufacturing footprint in India and contribute to local employment and skills development. With strong support from the Government of Telangana, we are poised to accelerate our manufacturing capabilities and deliver high-quality, sustainable energy solutions for India and the world," the Chairman said.

The expanded capacity will bolster transformer production for both domestic consumption and export markets, further solidifying Toshiba’s role as a global hub for transmission and distribution (T&D) solutions. 

The investment is expected to generate over 250 direct employment within the next three years, starting from FY24.
