Three Mega Highway projects cleared to ease traffic in Delhi-NCR

Infrastructure  -  Jun 13,2025  -

The Central government has approved three major infrastructure projects worth Rs 14,850 crore.

These will improve travel to the National Capital Region and shorten the time it takes for people from Delhi to reach places like Katra and Dehradun.
The upcoming projects will ease traffic on major roads in South East, South West, and East Delhi, such as the Barapullah flyover, Ring Road, and Outer Ring Road (ORR), along with other inner roads. They will also connect areas like Dwarka, ORR, Sarai Kale Khan, Kalindi Kunj, and other key main roads to Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurgaon.

Under one of these three big infrastructure projects, the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra National Expressway (NE-5) will be extended from the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway to Urban Extension Road (UER)-II (NH-344M) in Delhi and Haryana.

This 20-km stretch will provide Expressway connections through UER-II, Dwarka Expressway, and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway for traffic coming from Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Punjab heading towards Central and Western India. An official stated that this extension is expected to cost Rs 4,000 crore.

“This stretch will provide direct connections for traffic going to Delhi, Gurgaon, and IGI Airport from the Delhi-Katra expressway through UER-II and Dwarka Expressway. The highway will offer another way to connect UER-II with the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway,” a senior official said.
