DCVMI inaugurates new manufacturing facility in Cikarang

Manufacturing  -  Jun 16,2025  -

Daimler Truck has officially opened its new manufacturing plant in Indonesia, operated by Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI). This new facility, located in the Cikarang Industrial Area, is an important step in the company's plan to meet the demand for commercial vehicles across Southeast Asia.

The plant, built on a 15-hectare plot, cost IDR 500 billion and can produce 5,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses annually. It will act as a central point for assembling and distributing vehicles in the region, bringing together German engineering, manufacturing skills from India, and an understanding of the local Indonesian market.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) in Chennai will support the Indonesian operations by sending "Completely Knocked Down" (CKD) kits. DICV's experience in producing high-quality goods at a good price is expected to help the new plant run efficiently and adapt to different market needs.

Satyakam Arya, who is the Managing Director and CEO of DICV, mentioned that the Indonesian plant fits well with Daimler Truck's long-term plans for Southeast Asia. He also confirmed that India will continue to be a key base for exports.

The new facility is designed to make work and production more flexible. It includes advanced manufacturing systems, a test track to mimic real road conditions, and a modern paint booth, all meeting Mercedes-Benz's worldwide standards.
