THDCIL commences commercial operation of second unit at Khurja STPP

THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has officially announced the commencement of commercial operations for the second 660 MW unit of the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) in UttarPradesh. 

The event, held virtually on September 23, 2025, was attended by Union Minister of Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, along with other key government officials. 

The Khurja STPP, a massive 1320 MW project, now has both of its units fully operational. The first unit began commercial operation on January 26, 2025.

Developed through 14 specialized packages, the project utilizes advanced ultra-supercritical technology and includes high-efficiency environmental safeguards. 

With a captive coal linkage from the Amelia Mine, the plant is projected to generate 9,264 million units of electricity annually, significantly enhancing India's power capacity and grid reliability. 

As a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, THDCIL's successful completion of this project is a testament to its engineering prowess and strategic vision in contributing to the nation's energy security.
