Puducherry to get Rs 436 crore elevated corridor on NH-32

Infrastructure  -  Sep 23,2025  -

The central government has sanctioned a new elevated corridor for Puducherry with a budget of Rs 436.18 crore.

The project, which includes both an elevated structure and a grade separator, will be built along NH-66 (New NH-32), connecting Indira Gandhi Square and Rajiv Gandhi Square.

Spanning 3.877 km, the four-lane corridor, with its 1.821 km elevated section, is designed to alleviate severe traffic congestion on one of the city's busiest routes.

The new corridor will be built within the existing Right of Way and will feature ramps providing direct access to key highways like Villupuram (NH-332), Tindivanam (NH-32), and the city bus stand.

In addition to improving traffic flow, the project will also incorporate pedestrian crossings, sidewalks, and service lanes to enhance safety and accessibility for commuters.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) also approved a separate 46 km four-lane stretch on NH-332A, further boosting regional connectivity.
