Tata to establish India’s first private helicopter assembly line

Infrastructure  -  Oct 06,2025  -

Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) will set up India’s first private-sector helicopter assembly line in Vemagal, Karnataka, to produce Airbus H125 helicopters.

The H125 is a versatile light utility helicopter widely used for passenger transport, aerial work, law enforcement, and rescue missions.

The move builds on TASL’s deepening aerospace partnership with Airbus, following the C295 transport aircraft assembly line in Vadodara.

The new facility is expected to deliver the first India-assembled H125 by 2027 and will also support a military variant, the H125M.

The project strengthens India’s push for self-reliance in defence and aerospace manufacturing under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision.

By localizing final assembly, supply chain development, and potential exports, the venture enhances India’s role in the global aerospace value chain. Karnataka, already home to several aerospace clusters, will benefit from jobs and skill development.
