Tata Power is in discussions with the Odisha government to set up a 10 GW ingot-and-wafer manufacturing facility at an estimated cost of Rs. 10,000 crore. 

The project aims to strengthen India’s solar supply chain by reducing dependence on Chinese wafer imports and supporting Tata Power’s expanding cell and module portfolio. 

Odisha’s ports and industrial parks make it a strategic location for export-oriented manufacturing. 

If finalised, this would be one of the largest backward-integration investments in India’s renewable sector and could attract allied component manufacturers to the region.
