Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has invited bids to select a developer to repower an integrated wind-solar plant combining the repowering of an existing 18.75 MW wind asset and a 16 MW solar installation, to be implemented on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis for 25 years.

The tender signals the utility’s pragmatic approach to extend asset life and improve capacity factors by hybridising older wind assets with solar, thereby enhancing grid stability and merchant/contracted revenue streams. 

This move also aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader renewable repowering and hybridisation policy to squeeze more output and capacity value from constrained land and legacy assets. 

Interested developers will be evaluated through a transparent competitive bidding process with a December deadline for submissions.
