The Tamil Nadu government has greenlit a major infrastructure project, a 14.2 km elevated four-lane flyover on the East Coast Road (ECR) to connect Thiruvanmiyur and Uthandi. 

The project, estimated at Rs 2,100 crore, will be the state's longest elevated corridor. The flyover, which will run on pillars along the road median, is designed to drastically reduce travel time between the two points from the current hour to a mere 15-20 minutes. 

It will be a toll road under a closed-gate system, with charges based on distance traveled. The project is expected to bring significant relief to motorists traveling towards Puducherry, Mamallapuram, and other southern destinations.
