Tamil Nadu signs 23 new investment agreements with German firms

The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, has secured an additional investment of Rs 3,800 crore by signing MoUs with 23 more German companies during his recent overseas tour. 

The trip culminated in the signing of 26 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), which are projected to create over 15,000 new jobs in the state.

The deals were finalized at the TN Rising Germany Investment Conclave in Düsseldorf. A total of 23 MoUs were signed on a single day, adding to the three major agreements that had been announced earlier.

The investments span a range of industries, solidifying Tamil Nadu's reputation as a manufacturing and green energy powerhouse. Notable agreements include:

* Vensys Energy: A significant deal worth Rs 1,068 crore that will create 5,238 jobs in the renewable energy sector.

* BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS): The company will invest ₹300 crore to expand its plant in Chengalpattu.

* Bella Premier Happy Hygiene: A Polish multinational firm, Bella will invest ₹300 crore to expand its healthcare product manufacturing in Dindigul.

* Herrenknecht India: A global leader in tunnel boring machines, the company will expand its Chennai plant with a Rs 250 crore investment.
* Puls: This firm will invest Rs 200 crore, further bolstering the state's industrial ecosystem.

These new MoUs are in addition to the previously announced investments with Knorr-Bremse, Nordex Group, and ebm-papst, bringing the total investment from the German leg of the trip to over Rs 7,000 crore.
