In a significant push towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, the Ministry of Defence is establishing a cutting-edge testing facility for mechanical and material applications within the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor in Tiruchirappalli. 

This crucial development falls under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme, which aims to bolster indigenous defence production and reduce reliance on imports. 

The facility will be developed through a collaborative effort, with Micro Labs leading a consortium that includes the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO), Bharat Earth Movers Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and Vaidheswaran Industries. 

Once operational, this advanced testing center will provide vital support to both government and private defence industries, playing a pivotal role in strengthening India's defence capabilities.
