South Korea's Hwaseung to set up first-ever Rs 1,720 crore footwear plant in Tamil Nadu

Manufacturing  -  Aug 25,2025  -

Tamil Nadu's position as a leading investment destination has been bolstered by a major announcement from South Korean-headquartered Hwaseung Footwear Group.

The company has committed to a Rs 1,720 crore investment to establish its first non-leather footwear manufacturing unit in India.

The facility will be located in Tuticorin, in the Gangaikondan (Tirunelveli district) region, and is expected to create approximately 20,000 direct jobs.

The announcement was made during the state's inaugural "TN Rising Investors Conclave," where the government signed 41 MoUs.

Hwaseung, a major supplier to global brands like Adidas, has factories in Vietnam, Indonesia, and China.

This strategic entry into the Indian market highlights the company's confidence in the state's industrial ecosystem and positions Tamil Nadu as a key hub for non-leather and sustainable footwear exports.
