SK Hynix weighs Odisha as front-runner for India ATMP unit

Manufacturing  -  Nov 24,2025  -

South Korea’s SK Hynix is in early-stage talks to identify an Indian partner and a suitable state for a memory ATMP facility, with Odisha emerging as the leading contender as the company explores options to diversify supply for DRAM and high-bandwidth memory tied to AI demand.

If finalised, the move would mirror recent global memory investments into India and strengthen domestic packaging and test capacity rather than introduce wafer fabrication, helping build a local ecosystem for downstream memory production.

The proposal remains exploratory — potential partners named in reports have denied confirmed investments — but India’s generous semiconductor incentives and growing local demand are making states compete to host the plant.

This development would complement other recent ATMP and advanced packaging commitments in India and could accelerate supplier and skills investment in the chosen state.
