Singer India Ltd has secured licensing and manufacturing arrangements to start local production of auto zig-zag sewing machines for the domestic market, shifting select assembly and sourcing to India to cut lead times and costs. 

Localising production will support garment and upholstery manufacturers that rely on specialised industrial sewing equipment and is likely to improve Singer’s service and spare-parts turnaround in South Asia. 

The move also aligns with policies encouraging local manufacturing of capital goods and could open export opportunities to neighbouring markets as capacity ramps up.
