SECI signs power deal with R-Power subsidiary for 1.4 GW solar storage project

Power Generation  -  May 05,2025  -

Reliance Power has signed a 25-year agreement to sell power (PPA) with SECI. This agreement is for a 1.4 gigawatts solar and battery storage project. A subsidiary company of Reliance, Reliance Nu Suntech, will build this project.

Reliance will provide 930 MW of power from this project for Rs 3.53 per unit. The project will be built in one location over the next 24 months and will cost Rs 10,000 crore to build. The company said that the project also includes a battery system that can provide 465 MW of backup power for four hours.

Reliance was given the largest amount of capacity in SECI’s auction (round XVII) which finished in December 2024. The company has given SECI a bank guarantee of Rs 378 crore to show they will perform the work.

This power purchase agreement makes it easier for the project to get loans. Right now, about 40 GW of power capacity offered in different SECI auctions is having trouble getting these power sale agreements
