SECI invites proposals for green hydrogen hubs

Power Generation  -  Aug 26,2024  -

Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) has invited proposals to develop the supporting infrastructure required for setting up of green hydrogen hubs.

As per India’s Green Hydrogen Mission, regions capable of supporting large-scale production and/or utilization of hydrogen will be identified and developed as green hydrogen hubs.

Hydrogen hub is an identified geographical region housing a network of green hydrogen (GH2) producers, end use (domestic or export) with sufficient supporting infrastructure of GH2 storage, processing and transportation.

A hydrogen hub might be located in land or near ports to enable exports of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

Potential locations for such hubs would be regions having cluster of refineries/fertilizer production plants and other end use industries in close vicinity.

Under this SECI’s Call for Proposals, at least two such green hydrogen hubs will be set up by FY 2025-26 with a budgetary outlay of INR 200 crore till FY 2025-26.

SECI invites proposals for Green Hydrogen hubs

Power Generation  -  Sep 23,2025  -

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has issued a significant call for proposals.

The agency is seeking to select qualified entities to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the establishment of Green Hydrogen Hubs across the country.

This initiative is a key component of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with an official announcement made on September 17, 2025.

The development of these hubs is crucial for accelerating India's transition to a renewable energy economy and positioning the country as a leader in the global green hydrogen market.

Financial assistance of up to Rs 3 crore per state is available for the preparation of each DPR.

The application process is being conducted through a single-bid e-tendering system, requiring applicants to submit specific fees and an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD).

The funding will be disbursed in three stages, with payments tied to the acceptance of the draft and final DPRs.

This program is a critical step towards creating a comprehensive green hydrogen ecosystem that will support India's long-term energy sustainability goals.
