Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) inaugurated a modern facility at Rourkela Steel Plant focused on process efficiency and capacity support, a move highlighted by the Union Steel Minister as pivotal for regional industrial development. 

Upgrades at legacy public-sector steel plants are meant to improve product quality, reduce energy intensity and position these sites to serve higher-value downstream customers in engineering, automotive and infrastructure. 

The investment reinforces the government’s push to modernise steelmaking assets while addressing local employment and supplier ecosystems in Odisha. 

Continued focus on land and raw-material logistics will determine how quickly expanded output translates into market share gains.
