Reliance Power participates in global bids for 1,500-MW gas-based power project

Power Generation  -  Jul 01,2025  -

Reliance Power Ltd, led by Anil Ambani, is actively expanding its global footprint by participating in international bids for a 1,500-MW gas-based power project.

The company has submitted competitive bids for gas-based power projects in Kuwait, the UAE, and Malaysia. These countries have a high demand for gas-based power, which is considered a cleaner energy source.

A strategic aspect of this plan is to relocate two 750 MW modules of world-class equipment that Reliance Power currently possesses in India.

These modules were originally imported from General Electric (GE), USA, for a combined cycle power project in India. One similar module was previously exported to Bangladesh for an LNG-based power project in partnership with Japan's JERA.

The availability of this 1,500 MW of equipment gives Reliance Power a significant advantage, as global suppliers like GE typically require 3 to 5 years for delivery of such large-scale gas or LNG-based power plant equipment. This allows Reliance Power to potentially execute projects in a much shorter timeframe.
