Prostram bags Bihar BESS Project with Rs 4.44L/MW

Power Generation  -  Jun 18,2025  -

Prostarm Info Systems Ltd has received an official letter confirming they will be setting up a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Bihar. They won this project through a bidding process based on electricity rates.

In a message to the stock exchange, Prostarm Info Systems Ltd, based in Navi Mumbai, announced that Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) has awarded them the letter of intent to set up a BESS.

Because of this, Prostarm will build standalone BESS systems totaling 30 MW/120 MWh at various power substations belonging to Bihar State Power Transmission Company Ltd (BSPTCL) in Bihar.

These BESS systems will be built, owned, operated, and then transferred (BOOT) to the state after a 12-year agreement period. The project will also be eligible for government funding to help cover the gap between costs and revenue.

Prostarm is expected to have these BESS systems in place within 18 months from the date they sign the battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA).

The price Prostarm quoted was Rs. 4.44 lakh per MW per month. This means they will earn about Rs. 15.984 crore per MW each year, adding up to around Rs. 192 crore for the full capacity over the entire 12-year period.
