Powergrid KPS3 transmission commissions transmission project

Power Generation  -  Aug 19,2025  -

Powergrid KPS3 Transmission Ltd. has successfully commissioned its transmission project, a key development in strengthening the country's power infrastructure.

The project is part of the broader scheme to evacuate renewable energy from the massive Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat.

The project was awarded to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.

The commissioned scheme includes the establishment of the Khavda Pooling Station-3 (KPS3), along with a 765 kV double-circuit line connecting KPS2 and KPS3.

The pooling station is designed to handle up to 9 GW of renewable energy generation from the Khavda RE Park, which is envisaged to have a total evacuation capacity of 30 GW.

The successful commissioning of this project is a testament to the efficient execution of critical infrastructure and a crucial step in integrating renewable energy into the national grid.

It plays a vital role in India's clean energy transition by ensuring the seamless transmission of green power from generation hubs to consumption centers.
