PGCIL gets extension for new Wanpoh Substation augmentation

Power Generation  -  Sep 11,2025  -

The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has been granted an extension for its crucial New Wanpoh substation augmentation project.

The project, a key part of the Northern Region Strengthening Scheme (NRSS-21), aims to enhance the grid's capacity and stability in the region.

The original deadline for the project was extended to accommodate unforeseen challenges, ensuring that the work is completed to the highest standards.

The augmentation involves installing additional transformers and related equipment, which will increase the substation’s power handling capacity.

This is vital for supporting the growing demand for electricity in the northern part of the country and will reduce the risk of grid failures and power outages.
