Odisha Mining Corporation fixes 50 MT production target

Mining  -  Jul 14,2025  -

The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has set an ambitious target to significantly boost its mineral production, aiming for a total output of 50 million tonnes (MT) in the financial year 2025-26.

This aggressive goal represents a substantial increase from previous years and underscores OMC's commitment to capitalizing on Odisha's rich mineral reserves. A key component of this expansion plan is the near-doubling of bauxite production, with the target set to reach 6 MT this fiscal year.

The ambitious targets were finalized during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on July 10, 2025.

The discussions focused on comprehensive strategies to enhance mineral output, including the extension of mining lease periods, expediting environmental clearances for ongoing projects, and the operationalization of new mines to unlock additional reserves.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this expansion must also be accompanied by a strong focus on improving livelihoods and living standards for communities residing in mining areas.
