NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), a 100% subsidiary of NTPC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) to jointly explore and develop renewable-energy projects. 

The partnership covers a broad spectrum: solar, wind, and hybrid power assets (with or without energy storage), green hydrogen and its derivatives, and green-mobility solutions. 

As part of the deal, SCCL plans to build a 500 MW pumped-storage plant at its Medipalli open-cast mine and scale up its solar power generation capacity to 5,000 MW, while also considering a geothermal plant and green hydrogen production. 

The collaboration reflects SCCL’s diversification strategy beyond coal, and leverages NTPC Green Energy’s expertise in project development and clean-energy technologies.
