NHPC has announced that Unit-2 of the 250 MW Subansiri Lower hydropower project is scheduled to begin commercial power supply in December. 

The project, located on the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border, is one of the largest hydropower developments in the Northeast. 

Commissioning of additional units will improve power availability and grid stability in the region. 

The project also plays a strategic role in harnessing the hydropower potential of the Brahmaputra basin. 

Once fully operational, it is expected to contribute meaningfully to renewable base-load capacity.
