Infrastructure  -  May 05,2025  -

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build an 88 km long, 6-lane expressway called the Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway (NH-719D). This project aims to make travel between Agra and Gwalior better.

NHAI signed a contract to build this project with M/s G.R. Infraprojects Ltd. The signing happened with NHAI Chairman, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and other important people from NHAI and the company that got the contract.

The new Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway will start at Deori village near Agra and finish at Susera village near Gwalior.

The total cost to build this project will be Rs. 4613 crore (this includes the cost to buy land). It will be built, operated, and tolls will be collected (Build Operate Transfer mode).

The contract is for 20 years. This includes 30 months for building the expressway. NHAI will give Rs. 820 crore to the company building it while construction is happening. This payment will be made based on how much of the project is finished.

The agreement for the Agra-Gwalior project also includes work on the current National Highway (NH-44) to make it stronger, safer, and better.

The project was given based on a quoted premium of 17.170% from the money collected from tolls, compared to the expected premium of 2.42%.

This extra payment (premium) will start from the second year after the project is finished. It will go up by 1% of the money collected from tolls each year after that for the rest of the contract time.
