NHAI has invited bids for four-laning the Muzaffarpur–Sitamarhi–Sonbarsa section of NH-22. 

The upgrade will improve connectivity to the Indo-Nepal border and enhance freight movement. 

It is expected to reduce travel time and logistics costs in north Bihar. The project also supports regional economic development and border trade. 

Highway expansion remains a key pillar of the Centre’s infrastructure-led growth strategy.
