The New Mangalore Port Authority has proposed the development of a satellite port at Pavinakurve in Karnataka under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. 

The proposed port will initially handle general cargo and is aimed at decongesting existing west coast ports. 

The project is expected to improve regional maritime logistics and reduce turnaround time for vessels. 

It aligns with the Sagarmala programme’s objective of port-led industrial development and multimodal connectivity.
