Machilipatnam set to emerge as a green hydrogen hub with mega investment

Power Generation  -  Jul 23,2025  -

The coastal city of Machilipatnam is poised for a transformative leap in its industrial landscape with the announcement of a massive Rs 35,000 crore (approximately USD 4.2 billion) green hydrogen and ammonia project by JK Srivastava & Hynfra (JKSH).

This ambitious undertaking marks a pivotal moment for the Krishna district and significantly bolsters Andhra Pradesh's aspirations to become a leading hub in India's burgeoning green energy sector.

The project, which saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JKSH and the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) in the presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, is a testament to the state's proactive approach in attracting sustainable investments.

JKSH's commitment of Rs 35,000 crore underscores the scale and strategic importance of this venture, making it one of the largest green energy investments in the region.

The facility will boast an impressive annual production capacity of 150 KTPA (kiloton per annum) of green hydrogen and 600 KTPA of green ammonia. This substantial output positions Machilipatnam as a crucial contributor to India's green hydrogen mission.
