Power Generation  -  Jun 09,2025  -

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Norway-based Ulstein Group to establish a strategic partnership focused on collaborative ship design and construction.

The agreement outlines cooperation on the design and development of state-of-the-art vessels, including specialized ships for the offshore, commercial, and defense sectors.

This partnership is expected to unlock new business opportunities in India and international markets, particularly in the growing offshore renewable energy sector, subsea construction, and naval support vessels. It also aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ and maritime self-reliance initiatives, by bringing advanced Norwegian ship design know-how to L&T’s facilities in India.

The collaboration will focus on integrating Ulstein’s ship design capabilities—renowned for their innovative X-BOW® hull technology, sustainable marine solutions, and expertise in offshore wind and expedition cruise segments—with L&T’s advanced shipbuilding infrastructure, engineering depth, and proven track record in defense and commercial ship construction.
