KNR Constructions JV secures Rs 4,800 crore coal mining contract in Jharkhand

KNR Constructions (KNRCL), working with Harsha Construction as a joint venture, has won a short-term contract. This contract is for developing and operating the Banhardih coal mining block in Jharkhand. Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, a company owned by NTPC in partnership with Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL), awarded the contract to the KNRCL-HCPL JV.

KNR Constructions owns 74 percent of this joint venture, while Harsha Constructions holds the remaining 26 percent. The contract is worth Rs 4,800 crore. It includes an initial development period of 12 months, followed by an operational period of five years.

The Banhardih coal block is estimated to have 34.50 million tonnes of coal.
