Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) has commissioned a new 3 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) oxygen furnace at its Angul facility in Odisha. 

This capacity addition aims to enhance production efficiency and reduce per-unit production costs through improved metallurgy.
The furnace expansion not only increases the plant’s steelmaking capacity but also optimizes oxygen usage, energy consumption, and emissions control. 

Such enhancements are vital in India’s increasingly competitive steel sector, where global pricing pressures demand operational excellence.
By boosting internal capacity, JSP can better serve demand both domestically and for export, particularly in structural, automotive, and construction segments. 

The move strengthens Odisha’s position as a major steel manufacturing hub.
