Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren visits Volvo facility in Sweden

Mining  -  Apr 28,2025  -

Jharkhand's Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, who is touring Europe with a group of state government officials, visited the Volvo car and truck facility in Sweden towards the end of his nine-day trip.

The group visited the factory that makes the world's second-largest commercial and heavy-duty trucks and talked about working together with the company based in Sweden.

While the officials from the state government gave a presentation showing why Jharkhand is a good place for investors, Soren continued discussions for collaborations between the government and businesses, and between the government and the Swedish government, in the future.

When they arrived in Gothenburg, known as an automobile city in Sweden, the first secretary (political) at the Indian embassy in Sweden, Rakesh Kumar Tiwary, welcomed Hemant and the group. Tiwary, along with officials at the embassy, set up meetings with businesses and potential investors.

Hemant and the group visited the Volvo truck plant in Gothenburg and talked with officials there. Both sides discussed the possibility of Volvo setting up a truck manufacturing plant in Jharkhand. The company officials looked at what the state needs, especially for mining operations.
