Assam will be the location for India’s second green hydrogen plant, to be set up in Numaligarh. 

The project, with an estimated investment of Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 crore, is set to be a major catalyst for industrial growth and clean energy innovation in the region.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that groundwork has already commenced, with tenders and other formalities completed. 

In addition to the green hydrogen plant, a Dimethyl Ether (DMA) plant will also be established, with the combined investment marking a significant milestone for Assam's industrial sector and its role in India's energy transition.
