India’s first amorphous electrical steel plant aims to cut 30,000 tonnes of imports

Metallurgical Industries  -  Mar 02,2026  -

India’s first amorphous electrical steel manufacturing facility is expected to reduce annual imports by nearly 30,000 tonnes once operational.

The plant will produce high-efficiency electrical steel used in transformers and power equipment, supporting domestic manufacturing needs.

Company officials stated that the facility will strengthen India’s energy infrastructure supply chain and reduce reliance on overseas suppliers.

The project aligns with efforts to enhance localisation in advanced materials manufacturing.

Commercial production is expected to commence after completion of installation and commissioning works.
