Indian Railways approves Rs. 872 crore projects across three states

Infrastructure  -  Feb 27,2026  -

Indian Railways has approved infrastructure projects worth Rs. 872 crore across Rajasthan, Kerala and West Bengal to enhance network capacity and operational efficiency.

The projects include track doubling, signalling upgrades, and station development works aimed at easing congestion on key routes.

Railway officials said the works are expected to improve freight handling capacity and passenger train punctuality.

The expansion will also strengthen regional connectivity and support industrial corridors linked to these states.

Implementation will be undertaken by the respective zonal railway authorities in phases, following tender finalisation and technical clearances.

The projects form part of the Railways’ broader capacity augmentation programme
