Hindon Airport Civil Terminal to expand, AAI seeks nine hectares in Ghaziabad

Infrastructure  -  Aug 29,2025  -

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken a decisive step toward expanding the civil terminal at Hindon Airport. The AAI has formally requested nine hectares of land from the Ghaziabad district administration to address the airport's operational constraints.

The current terminal, which opened in 2019, is a compact two-hectare facility that is now operating at full capacity, handling over 5,000 passengers and 50 flights daily.

A key bottleneck is the limited number of two aircraft parking bays, which often leads to delays. The proposed land acquisition at Sikandarpur village will be used to construct additional parking bays and expand passenger handling capacity.

The expansion is crucial for the airport to continue serving as a vital aviation hub for western Uttar Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region, especially as a relief airport for flights to Delhi's main international airport.
