Hind Rectifiers starts commercial production of copper conductors for transformers

Manufacturing  -  Nov 05,2025  -

Hind Rectifiers Ltd (Hirect) has commenced commercial production of advanced copper conductors at its new manufacturing unit.

The conductors are designed for high-efficiency transformers and power-electronic applications, marking a significant step in India’s push toward domestic manufacturing of critical electrical components.

The new line integrates precision extrusion, annealing, and insulation technologies to ensure lower power losses and improved conductivity. This development aligns with India’s broader goal of strengthening local supply chains for grid equipment under the ‘Make in India’ programme.

Hirect’s investment in copper conductors comes amid rising demand for power infrastructure driven by renewable expansion and urban electrification. The company’s expertise in rectifiers and transformers positions it to serve both state utilities and industrial clients.

With the new production facility online, Hind Rectifiers is poised to enhance its competitiveness against imported components while supporting India’s ambition to achieve grid self-sufficiency and export capability in power equipment.
