Food Processing  -  Jun 23,2025  -

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that six new plants for processing and chilling milk will be built across the state. This is to increase milk production and help people in rural areas earn more money.

He led a meeting of the Animal Husbandry Department on June 19, 2025. In the meeting, he stressed the importance of creating more dairy farming groups. This will create jobs and opportunities for young people in the dairy industry. Right now, 910 villages have active dairy groups, and the state wants to have even more.

The Chief Minister also looked at how the Dagwar Milk Processing Plant in Kangra district is coming along. He asked for a group to be formed to make sure the plant is finished quickly.

This plant will be able to process 1.50 lakh liters of milk each day and costs Rs 225 crore. It is expected to start working by June 2026. Farmers in Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, and Chamba will benefit from it. The Chief Minister said that MILKFED has bought 17 percent more milk in the last three years.
