Biofertilizer lab established in Himachal Pradesh

Environment  -  Jun 23,2025  -

Professor Naveen Kumar Arora from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, played a big role in setting up a lab and factory to make biofertilizers in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.

This project, done with Manav Vikas Sansthan, is a major step towards farming that is good for the environment.

The Professor said, "I taught the staff of Manav Vikas Sansthan in Himachal Pradesh how to make biofertilizers using tiny living things. These biofertilizers have been used successfully for a long time to grow more crops in villages in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, in a way that doesn't harm the environment."

This project is expected to help with farming that is good for nature and support people in rural areas.

Before this, BBAU was making and giving biofertilizers to farmers in the three states. This was part of a project funded by DST-SEED, Ministry of Science and Technology. Now, with the new factory working, biofertilizers are being made locally in Himachal Pradesh. Naveen Kumar Arora added, "In the new lab, biofertilizers will be made using tiny living things like Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, and Bacillus, along with other helpful microbes. I gave these important microbes to the new biofertilizer factory."
