Manufacturing  -  Jul 26,2025  -

In a significant boost to India's ambition of becoming a global semiconductor hub, the government has approved six chip manufacturing projects with a cumulative investment of approximately Rs 1.55 lakh crore.

These projects are projected to create over 27,000 direct job opportunities, as informed by the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, in Parliament.

These approvals fall under the ambit of the government's Rs 76,000 crore 'Semicon India Programme,' designed to foster a robust semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem within the country.

Minister Prasada highlighted that semiconductor manufacturing is a highly specialized industry requiring skilled roles, and the sector's foundational nature is expected to have a cascading impact on employment across other industries and supply chains.
