Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL) has unveiled a proposal for a unique double-decker metro viaduct along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), designed to maximize transport capacity while minimizing land acquisition in congested urban zones. 

The proposed 36-km corridor from Sector 56 to Pachgaon would feature a vertically integrated structure where metro tracks and an elevated road share a single set of piers, estimated to cost approximately Rs 8,500 crore. 

This innovative engineering solution reflects a growing trend in Indian urban planning to address rapid population growth and traffic density through high-density, multi-level transit infrastructure.
