First MRO facility to Grace Raja Bhoj airport by 2026

Infrastructure  -  Jul 03,2025  -

Madhya Pradesh is on the cusp of a significant aviation milestone with the announcement that the state's first-ever Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility will be established at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal by 2026.

This strategic development, a Rs 25 crore project set to unfold on a 1.5-acre plot, promises to revolutionize aircraft maintenance capabilities in Central India and provide a substantial boost to the regional economy.

For years, airlines operating in Central India have faced the logistical challenge of transporting aircraft to distant MRO facilities, often in major metropolitan centers like Delhi, Mumbai, or even overseas, for routine checks, component repairs, and modifications.

This new MRO hub at Raja Bhoj Airport is poised to change that, offering a localized and efficient solution that will significantly reduce aircraft downtime and operational costs for carriers.

Raja Bhoj Airport Director, Ramji Awasthi said, "This strategic infrastructure development will create numerous employment opportunities for skilled aviation technicians and engineers in the region."

The facility will be equipped with modern tools and technology to service a range of commercial aircraft, from regional jets to narrow-body planes, catering to both domestic and international airlines.
