Manufacturing  -  Aug 29,2025  -

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed that the country's first "Made in India" semiconductor chip is ready to be rolled out from the pilot facility of CG Semi in Sanand, Gujarat. This marks a monumental step in India's technological journey.

The newly inaugurated G1 pilot facility is an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) plant, providing a full suite of services from chip assembly and packaging to testing.

The facility, which has a capacity of 5 lakh units per day, is part of a larger Rs 7,600 crore investment by CG Semi, in partnership with Renesas and Stars Microelectronics.

This development is a testament to the government's forward-thinking policies and is expected to be a major catalyst for India's digital and electronics manufacturing future.
