Farmton Foods to set up Rs 580 crore Potato processing unit in Gujarat

Food Processing  -  Oct 14,2025  -

Farmton Foods, a subsidiary of the Somnath Group, has signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to invest Rs 580 crore in establishing a state-of-the-art potato processing plant at Mehsana.

The facility will produce frozen potato-based products such as French fries, hash browns, and coated snacks for domestic and export markets.

The project, expected to be operational by 2026, will support over 5,000 local farmers through contract farming initiatives.

It will incorporate sustainable practices including water recycling and peel waste utilisation for bioenergy generation.

The investment further strengthens Gujarat’s position as a leading hub for food processing and agri-based industries, complementing India’s efforts to increase value addition in agricultural exports.
