The Government of Chhattisgarh and GAIL (India) have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a gas-based fertiliser manufacturing project in the state. 

The proposed facility aims to enhance domestic fertiliser production capacity, reduce import dependence, and stabilise supply for India’s agricultural sector. 

The project will leverage natural gas as feedstock, supporting the government’s push for cleaner and more efficient fertiliser production technologies. It is expected to catalyse industrial development and employment generation in the region.

This initiative also strengthens India’s broader energy and food security strategy by linking gas infrastructure expansion with downstream industrial growth. 

The project could become a major anchor investment in Chhattisgarh’s emerging industrial ecosystem.
