The Tamil Nadu government has found 6.5 acres of land at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research in Guindy, Chennai, to build a special hospital just for children.

Health Minister Ma Subramanian stated that construction will start in September and be finished in two years.

He visited the site with other health officials and told reporters that the project will cost Rs 487.7 crore.

The hospital will have a six-story building and include living spaces for nurses, doctors, and professors. It will have 20 special medical departments and 750 beds, including 100 for intensive care.

Besides common children's specialties like medicine, critical care, surgery, and stomach issues, it will also have advanced pediatric departments for cancer, urinary problems, brain surgery, and organ transplants.

The hospital will also have modern labs for blood tests, germ testing, disease analysis, and imaging, along with dialysis units, endoscopy rooms, and other facilities.
