Centre okays three highways in J&K, Rs 43,010 crore to boost connectivity

The central government has sanctioned three major National Highway projects in Jammu and Kashmir, with a total investment of Rs 43,010 crore. 

The initiative aims to significantly improve connectivity, enhance security, and boost tourism in the region.

The projects include a four-lane highway from Samba to Udhampur, which is expected to drastically reduce travel time. 

Another major project is the four-lane Kathua-Bhaderwah-Doda highway, which will connect several key areas and be a significant upgrade from the existing state highway. 

The third project involves upgrading a 130 km road from Bhaderwah to Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. The projects' Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are complete, and construction is expected to begin soon.
